RPG Diffusor Systems:   Skyline LP 2-Dimensional Diffusor
0.gif (77 bytes)
The First Low Profile Two Dimensional Optimized Primitive Root Diffusor

The RPG Skyline® was the music industry’s first Primitive Root Diffusor and has long been the most recognizable 2-Dimensional diffusor available. The only complaint we have received about the original Skyline in certain applications is its 7” depth. Therefore RPG is announcing the new Skyline® LP, a 4” version of the industry’s most recognizable diffusor

Problem
Small rooms like Project Studios need a very efficient surface to diffuse interfering rear wall reflections and provide a diffuse sound field without sacrificing valuable interior space.

Solution
To solve this problem in a minimal amount of depth, RPG® modified the original Skyline® design to create a lower-profile version of the most powerful two dimensional diffusor in the acoustical industry. At only 4” depth, the Skyline® LP is still far superior to other 2-dimensional diffusors, but in nearly half the depth.

Diffusion
The uniformity of diffusion is characterized according to AES-4id-2001, from the circular cross correlation of the 1/3 octave polar responses. For a given angle of incidence, the backscattered impulse responses are measured at 5 degree
increments, between 0° and 180°. The average incidence Diffusion Coefficient at each 1/3 octave is the average cross correlation of the 1/3-octave polar responses for all angles of incidence. The data illustrate the exceptional uniformity of diffusion above the diffraction limit (565 Hz = 1130
ft/sec/2'),which is related to the 2' dimension of the panel. The Diffusion Coefficient of a flat reflective panel is shown for comparison.

Absorption
The solid expanded polystyrene core of the Skyline® LP provides useful low frequency absorption.

Installation
The Skyline® LP is very easy to install on walls or ceilings using either construction adhesive or the supplied hook and loop fasteners. Apply both sides of the hook and loop fastener to the rear of the Skyline® LP in each corner on a flat area. Remove the protective paper from the exposed side and apply to the wall. For permanent mounting you may wish to also apply construction adhesive along with the hook and loop. Skylines® LPs can also be inserted into a T-bar ceiling grid.

WARNING: The Skyline® LP is fabricated from flame-retardant, high- density expanded polystyrene foam. It is the nature of this material to have rough surface imperfections and contain steam vent holes. Some of these imperfections can be partially concealed by a factory paint process. If you are interested in a painted product, RPG® offers a painted version in Duron Multispec Fine Fleck paint. RPG® does not recommend that the Skyline® LP be painted in the field and assumes no responsibility for any damage resulting from field painting.
